I'm sorry I can't get my head around this trade, in terms of value as it stands the Cards are getting about one cent on the dollar. He's giving up a blue chip player for :
A TE who has talent but plays on a train wreck of a team and will probably be the Cards TE 3 in a week or two plus what looks like a cap dump of Verner from NY...
I am paring down my leagues for next season and though I love a complete rebuild I do like to see parity and fairness throughout a league. Usually with a roster as devoid of talent as mine I have no real assets to offer to acquire blue chip players, but to see a good team get a player like Watkins for peanuts and for no good reason is quite sickening. I too have a pocket full of usually useless magic beans I could have used to make a run at Watkins...Rudolph/Zach Brown/draft picks included

What is the justification of adding Verner to the trade? Is he about to get traded to the Patriots or something? He seems to be buried in Tampa

The amusing thing is Giants just got better TE for a 10th of the cost

Appeasing two owners instead of the league is not the duty of a commissioner. When situations occur that put the Commissioner at risk in making decisions (commissioner transactions that need voting on, trades involving the Commish and transactions that affect a Commish's viewpoints such as the Watkins trade), it is a perfect reason to have a Co-Commish. In the leagues that I am the Commish in, I have a person in this position.
I have seen more owners that are against this trade than TAB that approved it. For this reasoning alone, as a Commish, I would have to veto the trade.
We have a good group of owners that are active and put together competing teams rather than rebuilding all of the time. It is almost a guarantee that the league will be looking for new owners next year because of this trade.

I am considering my position, I'm trying hard to put together a competing roster from a complete wreckage, I didn't have or get any kind of draft position this year and FA was wildly expensive (as it is in most leagues, 13 M for one year Cameron Meredith is ridiculous) So I'm struggling and to see Watkins handed over/gifted for less than peanuts is frankly depressing. Especially for the reason given. Irrespective of what kind of career these players go on to have (and I like VM, there's talent there)
This also sets the bar really low...I honestly don't see how you can veto anything now going forward
