I feel we could accomplish some sort of balance, but can it be done without creating an additional monster (imbalance).
Eg. Some Safety's(as well as other positions) make their living off of tackles and others take aways and or sacks/causing fumbles etc.
So increasing ppt for Safety would boost their stats perhaps over that of LB's if that position's points were reduced un-proportionate.
Overall, I agree with what you are looking to obtain. Not sure if I like the Browns suggested numbers, but I do like the suggested format, and we may be able to work with those numbers to come up with a few game total outcomes for the differing types and quality of players.
I like to give a voice to everyone's ideas. I'm not a fan of a tiered point system myself, but because Ryan (Bills GM) had mentioned to me a while back that he wanted to make TE's viable in this league, he too mentioned a tiered points system where TE's would earn more for receptions than other offensive positions because he felt that that may have needed to be done to keep that position relevant. Personally, I like straight equal value system, where everyone earns the same amount of points for what ever attributes regardless of position. So, if there is a desire by league members go down this path of a tiered system, I will keep an open mind.
I also like the idea of running a couple player stats to see what we're actually accomplishing to see what kind of system we're creating. So I will propose my idea of what type of points system I think may work and then we can run some test numbers. We can also open the floor for a debate on this points system, hearing everyone's point of view, and making adjustments if need be.
Here's what I propose:
League Scoring
The Legacy NFL will be using MFL for all scoring purposes. Here is the scoring as follows:
Number of Passing TDs 6 points each --- decrease to 5 points each
Passing Yards .05 point for every 1 ---- keep as is
Pass Interceptions Thrown -2 points each --- keep as is
Long Passing Plays of 40+ Yards 1 point each ---- keep as is
Passing 2 Pointers 2 points each ---- keep as is
Number of Rushing TDs 7 points each ---- decrease to 6 points
Rushing Yards .1 point for every 1 ---- keep as is
Long Rushing Plays of 20+ Yards 1 point each ---- keep as is

A 3 point home field advantage for both the regular season and the playoffs will occur for the 2014 season.
Darryl, if you could run some test numbers, that would be great. Once those numbers are in, then we can decide in more detail where we want to go on a point by point basis to see what will work best for this league.
