Legacy NFL GM's,
Here's a proposition to add a sniping rule for free agency: Similar rule to what we've seen in other leagues, only with a 2 point max bid snipe after the 20 hour mark.
Here's how the rule would read:
If you want to bid on a player AFTER the 20 hour mark then the bidding team needs to two these two things:
1. Identify it as a Snipe Bid 2. Bid at least 2 point more then the previous leading bid

Why even bother adding this, if people get so uptight about 'sniping' then just make it a 20hr clock?

Because we can't reach out and physically strangle the person who bids up a tenth of a point at 23 hours, that's why we bother adding this.

I understand people get feathers ruffled when a bid is entered in the last hours. It can be very frustrating. However, at least three (3) truths are apparent...
One - the 24-hour clock allows for events in RL, taking place around the world. Anything contrary places limitations on being able to place a valid bid within this allotted time-frame. Two - for some, later time bidding is like other aspects of the game. A strategy for acquiring players or discouraging certain teams from acquiring the player.
Three - under the current rule allotting such time, there is no such thing as a "snipe". This word is nothing more than a created construct.
As far as the proposed rule, I really see no need for someone to have to "identify" such bid as a "snipe bid". The timing of the bid speaks for itself. In this respect, a requisite for adding a certain number of points beyond 20-hours should suffice.
