Contract Restructure One contract restructure per year of a max of 3M per contract for contracts 12M and over in any given year, 2M for contracts 6M and over in any given year, and 1M for contracts for 3M and over in any given year, plus a 50% cap hit for any restructured contract. You can move this money any way you want, you can back load to clear up cap space for current year, or you can front load to clear up space for future years. For example: Original Contract:Darrelle Revis (CB-TB) 16/16/16/16/16/UFA After Restructure:Darrelle Revis 13/16/16/16/19/UFA The Bills cleared 3M in cap space by reorganizing 3M from the current year and placing it on the last year of the contract. But remember, if you use a contract restructure, you will now be on the hook for 50% of the contract instead of the standard 30%. Amendment #1: You can use one contract restructure per contract. Once a contract restructure has been used on a player, that player's contract cannot be restructured again until a brand new contract has been negotiated for that player. In other words, either the contract needs to expire first and then resigned, or a players contract has to be waived or bought-out first and then resigned.
Amendment #2: The exception to this rule is if a player has been extended, you can use one additional restructure for every contract extension. The contract extension qualifies as a new contract, so in theory with a max of two extensions a player can be restructured up to 3 times. There will be no additional waiver increase on restructures on 1nd and 2rd extension, the cap waiver fee stays stays at the original 50% hit from the first extension given to that player.

Just to be clear, the 50% cap hit is only if you drop the player, correct?
