Power Rankings - Week 2

Colts GM (Darryl), Titans GM (Ricky), and 1 more like this
Post by Panthers GM (Jesse) on Sept 23, 2022 14:56:40 GMT -5
Expect these to be inconsistent, but I have some time today and wanted to put out a power ranking for our league after two weeks!
1 New York Giants 2-0
You just have to respect Anthony. The Giants of 2022 are stocked with all the top end talent you're used to seeing, but the usually roster minimum hugging Anthony has invested in some cheap upside depth this year that could pay serious dividends down the road. They have a chance for a top seed affirming win this week against the #4 Panthers.
2 Los Angeles Rams 2-0
Might we finally be seeing the emergence of CEH? The Rams are stacked top to bottom with contributors and have the elite players ready to reach them into the 300s any given sunday.
3 Tennessee Titans 2-0
The back-to-back champions are better on paper than they've ever been in Legacy. The kicker to this roster? With early season injuries to Kamara and Keenan Allen plus some early season struggles from players like DK and Juju on offense, the arrow is pointing way up in terms of weekly scoring. Blessed with a fairly easy schedule this year, the Titans have an ourside shot at an undefeated season this year. I still worry about defensive depth on this team.
4 Carolina Panthers 2-0
On the flip side of Tennessee, the Panthers have come out throwing haymakers on defense. Devin White, Alex Highsmith and Marcus Williams are some of the top IDP scorers in Legacy at the moment and show no signs of slowing down. Offensively, key players Justin Fields and Darnell Mooney embarrassed themselves on national television Monday. If they get in tune the panthers are a contender. If they keep up current pace the Panthers might be a 1st round playoff out for the 4th year in a row.
5 San Francisco 49ers 2-0
The chariot by hoss RBs David Montgomery and Deandre Swift, the Niners were the talk of the league heading in to the season. After an undefeated start, there is no reason to doubt this squad yet. What we do see is a slow start by the team's pass catchers not named Ja'marr. They also just lost a top LB in Willie Gay to a 4-game suspension, but above average depth options should mute that impact. A big test looms week 3 vs the toast of the NFC North, the Lions.
6 New England Patriots 2-0
With starting QB Dak Prescott logging more time on mattress commercials during the Cowboys game this Sunday than on the field, the Patriots still jumped up and beat one of the usual best teams in Legacy this week, the Dolphins, with a score over 250. That's an extremely impressive win, and the Patriots have one of the easier schedules in the league over the next 2 months. There are a lot of unsung players popping huge numbers in New England right now.
7 Philadelphia Eagles 2-0
Matt Ryan, wake up man! Surely he will soon. When he does, he joins a team with a championship defense and some very strong offensive pieces to play with. Joe has done a great job with this roster, but maybe lacks that great FLEX option on offense most of the top 10 teams boast. A very difficult schedule awaits.
8 Detroit Lions 2-0
The Lions WR1 and WR2 in terms of points scored at the moment are Isaiah McKenzie and Justin Watson. Another team with a super strong defensive roster and some concerns on offense aside from elite QB Lamar Jackson. I liked the recent trade for Kadarius Toney! Toney's emergence would be a massive win for Detroit.
9 New York Jets 1-1
Is there an echo in here? The Jets defense is one of the best in Legacy, but offensively there are questions to be answered. It comes out in the wash as the Jets have averaged 230 points a week so far, but they have a gauntlet awaiting them over the next month with the Colts, Patriots, Titans and Dolphins ready to test their mettle.
10 Miami Dolphins 1-1
The fact here is that the Dolphins probably should have taken care of business against the Patriots this weekend. Blessed with elite top end talent, the Dolphins are also starting some waiver fodder on offense right now. This ship can be corrected, but right now i'm ranking them the #3 team in the AFC East.
11 Indianapolis Colts 1-1
Captained by elite QBJoe Flacco Jalen Hurts, the colts are looking bullish for now and the future. I would be looking for some LB reinforcements if I ran the Colts, but reinforcements are coming when Rondale Moore returns and Mariota discovers Kyle Pitts.
12 Cleveland Browns 1-1
GM Daniel has the Browns ready to explode. Their pass catchers are bad, but aside from that the Browns are a complete roster with 10 picks in the 1st and 2nd round next year. This time next year the Browns should have turned the corner into an elite squad in Legacy.
13 Las Vegas Raiders 1-1
The #1 team in what I am considering the middle of the pack as far as rankings go, the Raiders are really only in this tier because they haven't had a QB with Zach Wilson off doing Zach Wilson things. This is an excellent roster ready to climb the rankings if they can prove themselves against a tough but not impossible schedule.
14 Kansas City Chiefs 1-1
Speaking of underperformnce, Kansas City has a laundry list of talented players underperforming at the moment including King Henry, Etienne, CeeDee Lamb, Tyler Boyd, Mac Jones, not to mention most of there defense aside from Parsons and their world wrecking DE crew. The Chiefs will likely climb these rankings when things start reverting to the mean on these players. It was an important divisional win over Denver this week
15 Denver Broncos 1-1
The Broncos suffered a heartbreaking 3 point loss to Kansas City this week. Here's the fact of the Broncos at the moment: This is a team that's ready to play spoiler. What changes that calculus is the emergence of Kenny Walker and Rachaad White, who have been in the first half month.
16 Atlanta Falcons 1-1
In Atlanta, it's as simple as this: They need their RBs to do more, and they need to stay healthy on defense. I don't think the depth is there to support their starters on this roster at the moment and they need that engine of names in Dobbins, Gainwell and Akers to product if they are going to reach their potential this year.
17 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-1
The Buccaneers haven't showed what they can do this year. Aside from Tannehill, Mike Evans and Amari Cooper only two players have been able to score over 20 points in a single week this year: LB Kamu Grugier-Hill week 1 (30) and LB Brian Burns week 2 (28)
18 Cincinnati Bengals 1-1
I don't have a whole lot to say about the Bengals at the moment. The roster is in okay shape but they lack quality starters so their weekly points are very capped.
19 Pittsburgh Steelers 1-1
Always a better roster in theory than they seemed because of poor management, we will now see what Blaine can do. Getting a QB was a great first step.
20 Jacksonville Jaguars 0-2
A lot of faith is being put on James Washington to correct the offensive output of the Jaguars, and a 0-2 start is really pressing the issue to the limelight. This is an extremely talented defensive roster without the matching parts on offense at the moment.
21 San Diego Chargers 1-1
Similar to the Jaguars, but with a hobbled and shaken Jameis Winston leading the charge and not quite as dangerous on defense. The Chargers are likely in need of a roster shakeup.
22 Green Bay Packers 1-1
I have nothing new to say about Green Bay that I didn't say on mine and Frank's preview podcast: Elite top end talent with mostly garbage behind them. Still good enough to look healthy on paper, but this roster needs love and affection soon while the top guys have years left on their contracts.
23 New Orleans Saints 0-2
In a division where you really can't afford to go 0-2, the Saints have tripped out of the gate with their veteran offensive side unable to propel them past the Patriots and Buccaneers in two close matchups. The Saints are going to need to move the needle past the 200 point market to get back into this race.
24 Dallas Cowboys 1-1
The Cowboys just scream .500 to me this year. A shallow roster filled with solid but unspectacular starting options. With a win over the worst team in Legacy and a loss to the best team in Legacy, we really haven't seen enough to tell the story on the 2022 Cowboys.
25 Chicago Bears 1-1
The Bears took care of business against the Packers this week, but remain an overall weaker roster without the top end talent of the Packers. That said, this is a deep team who could outlast a lot of the teams on the bottom half of these rankings and clean up late. This will unlikely be enough to make the playoffs, but it does speak to a roster that is ready to take the next step into being more competitive if they can find playmakers this year.
26 Baltimore Ravens 1-1
GM Nate has made some difficult decisions this offseason to ready his roster for future success. Not the type to completely sell out on a season, the Ravens remain a team capable of competing weekly.
27 Washington Commanders 0-2
Few GMs are as capable as Blaine when it comes to reconstructing a roster. Last year a top 5 team who routinely challenged for the weekly high score, the Commanders aren't scaring anyone this year. A score of draft picks and cap space await the Washington Faithful this offseason.
28 Seattle Seahawks 0-2
The formerly competitive Seahawks are in urgent need of a reset. Despite a strong core of veterans, they aren't deep enough to compete with the top dogs in their division. That divide is especially exposed without a healthy Chris Godwin.
29 Arizona Cardinals 0-2
Arizona's youth movement strategy is a bold one. I'm sure they would like to see a few more points from some of these players in the early going, but this was always going to be a "redshirt" kind of year.
30 Minnesota Vikings 0-2
New GM Sanjul hit the reset button on the floundering Vikings when he joined and is gearing towards fielding a tougher team next year. Minnesota has a core of talent that could explode and steal a few wins this year, but they aren't going to outlast anyone with a complete roster right now.
31 Buffalo Bills 0-2
A roster set up to tank, we are already looking much healthier after two days of mowing the lawn and cleaning up the beer cans on the porch. Basic maintenance and a few forward looking trades should set the Bills up for the next owner to begin rebuilding with a strong young core.
32 Houston Texans 0-2
The Texans are a mess right now. Just a deeply damaged lineup with maybe 7 startable players and zero 1st round picks.
1 New York Giants 2-0

Captained by elite QB
