Week 7 represents midpoint of the Legacy season and I have time this week! Let's take a look at how things have changed since week 2.
Also as a reminder:
Also as a reminder:
THE LEGACY TRADE DEADLINE IS WEEK 9, that means all trades must be posted and accepted by kickoff of week 9, which is Nov. 3's Thursday matchup between the Eagles and Texans.
1 New York Giants 7-0-0 (Previous ranking in Week 2 article: 1)
This one seems fairly obvious. The Giants are always one of the top teams in Legacy, but this year they seem to score 285 points every week. Their lowest point total this year came in week 3 at 242. 2nd place on the “Highest lowest week” metric was 203 (49ers).
2 Los Angeles Rams 6-1-0 (Prev: 2)
Finally taking their first loss of the year is the Rams, with a hilarious 20 players on bye this week. Now comes the fun part: Rams barely have to worry about byes from this week on. Full steam ahead.
3 San Francisco 49ers 5-2-0 (Prev 2: 5)
Just how high can the Burrow/Chase connection take the 49ers? We will soon find out. By every metric other than losses, the niners are one of the elite 3 teams in Legacy and they deserve this spot ahead of the four 6-1 teams just behind. They now enter one of the easiest stretches of schedule of any team until their week 13 rematch with the Rams.
4 Tennessee Titans 6-1-0 (Prev: 3)
To be 6-1 after the year of injuries they’ve had to work around is a remarkable thing. The Titans need to keep grinding out these wins though, as 5 of their best players have week 14 bye weeks. This team would essentially be without any LBs or RBs in a week 14 matchup.
5 Carolina Panthers 6-1-0 (Prev: 4)
Getting Cordarrelle Patterson back in week 9 will be a massive get for a Carolina team that looks to be rounding the corner. The defense has taken some shots in the form of injuries and trades the past few weeks, but the starting lineup still looks strong.
6 Miami Dolphins 6-1-0 (Prev: 10)
The always shallow but always stocked with elite top end players Dolphins are doing exactly what they always do: Dominate teams while attempting to fend off the yearly challenge from one of their division mates. The Dolphins have the chance to knock the Patriots back into the wildcard race this week in a head to head matchup
7 Philadelphia Eagles 6-1-0 (Prev: 7)
6-1! Fantastic start to the year for the Eagles. The offense isn’t as deep with contributors as some teams ranked a little higher here, but the defense always keeps the lights on for Eagles fans and gives them a chance. Rookie GM Joe was granted a challenge this week when the Colts benched his QB and skipped his backup QB to give Sam Ehlinger a shot. Eagles will need to address this dysfunction by the deadline in time for week 9 and 10 matchups against the Panthers and Giants.
8 Cleveland Browns 5-2-0 (Prev: 12)
Our Browns have some “Little Engine That Could” energy to them this year. This team was able to beat the Rams this week, and one thing leaps off the page when checking their roster over: They’re good everywhere but wideout. This team is potentially 6 deep at RB, but rely on Richie James in the passing game. If Dan decides he wants to make a run this year, he has the capital and the roster to do so.
9 Kansas City Chiefs 4-3-0 (Prev: 14)
Leading one of the tighter divisions in Legacy this year is currently the KC Chiefs. One thing this team could really use urgently is a decision by Belichick who he wants leading his team moving forward, but Corey is a great GM and owns both Zappe and Jones for either scenario. One of them will join King Henry and Etienne in the Chiefs backfield to face a winnable schedule in the 2nd half of the year.
10 Las Vegas Raiders 4-3-0 (Prev: 13)
“On the heels” of the Chiefs is probably an understatement. Non especially deep anywhere, the Raiders have stayed agile this year to fill any holes as they spring. The Chiefs and Raiders are within 1 overall point scored of each other. The next 5 weeks will decide what is at stake for these teams in a week 13 grudge match to close the frame.
11 Detroit Lions 5-2-0 (Prev: 8)
A hot start to the year has given way to a 3-week streak of under 200 point performances for Detroit. They are still the class of the NFC North and boast a roster full of good to very good players at most positions, but I need to see a return to form on the weekly point totals to move them above the Chiefs and Raiders.
12 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-4-0 (Prev: 17)
Which teams have the Buccaneers lost to? The Dolphins, Giants, Panthers, and Titans. What’s in a record? Perhaps the Bucs could use a roster shakeup to get over the hump. The Bucs will close out 2022 vs the Eagles, Browns and Panthers.
13 New England Patriots 6-1-0 (Prev: 6)
If I were Randall, I would be annoyed to be 6-1 and placed outside the top 12, but the reality is the Buccaneers score over 20 points more than the Patriots do on a weekly average basis. The optics show a solid team overachieving due to an easy 1st half schedule. It’s up to the Patriots to show they aren’t a paper tiger. Miami is on tap.
14 Denver Broncos 3-4-0 (Prev: 15)
A shrewd Vegas player might have a few dollars to put on a Broncos conference championship this year. This team is LOADED with young talent who are emerging at their positions. Tua. Kenneth Walker, Brian Robinson, Devin Duvernay. Garrett Wilson. Alec Pierce. That’s ignoring so many other good players on this team. The Broncos could be ready to make a run in the 2nd half, but with 4 losses already the road to the playoffs is through the conference title.
15 Chicago Bears 5-2-0 (Prev: 25)
3 straight wins had the Bears beginning to turn heads behind star rookie Breece Hall. Those conference championship hopes might be put to bed. What more can be said? The Bears need a hero to step up in Hall’s stead. Poetry.
16 Jacksonville Jaguars 4-3-0 (Prev: 20)
A solid defensive team, the Jaguars walk in the door and accept a goose egg from one offensive position a week assuming there are no byes or injuries creating more 0s. They have the cap to get at least something on offense. Sign a fullback, Shane! A 1 yard TD reception from your fullback on a Sunday night is a good feeling.
17 Dallas Cowboys 4-3-0 (Prev: 24)
I want to see Dallas climb this list in the weeks to come. After a hot start injuries took them to some dark places offensively. A fantastic defensive team, they could be a dangerous team all around when their WRs round back into form.
18 Indianapolis Colts 1-6-0 (Prev: 11)
I kind of jump around when I write these columns, I don’t go 1 to 32 to make sure I’m not typing the same things over and over, and to make sure I understand the landscape of the league enough to bring teams up and down as I go. This was the final blurb I wrote as i’m not sure what to say. The Colts do not have a 1-6 roster. Their win? Texans. Their losses? Giants. A 246 point effort by the Jets. a 247 effort by the Jags. Dolphins. Titans. Panthers. That schedule eases way up in the 2nd half, but some terrible luck has given them 6 losses to try and run from. Hold tight Darryl, it might not be this year but this team is ready to do more.
19 Baltimore Ravens 4-3-0 (Prev: 26)
If the Ravens are going to make hay this year, it will be because Isaiah Spiller and/or Kyren Williams emerge in the 2nd half . This team doesn’t boast a lot of A-List talent, but they have enough to rack up enough points for a hot rookie to pop a 20-30 point game and win big matchups.
20 Green Bay Packers 3-4-0 (Prev: 22)
The Packers have become one of the more annoying teams in Legacy as they just need some substance behind the stars to be a really good team. What’s the point of having Nick Bosa if your other starting DE averages 2 points a week? That question exists in different situations all over this roster.
21 New York Jets 2-5-0 (Prev: 9)
The 2022 Jets suffer from the strength of the 2021 Jets: This is an extremely deep team. Depth in this case is defined by players who you can sub in to contribute on bye weeks and due to injuries. What this team lacks is the rock ribbed starters going out and taking wins from the competition. Their highest scoring skill player is TE Hayden Hurst at 64 points, though a returning Bateman is clearly their star on the rise.
22 Atlanta Falcons 2-5-0 (Prev: 16)
This team has been blasted by injuries. This week with four offensive starters injured and Kirk Cousins on a bye week, they fell to the Houston Texans.
23 Pittsburgh Steelers 4-3-0 (Prev: 19)
There is plenty of talent on this Steelers team to keep them competitive with the bottom 75% of this league. This roster actually got some good injury news with Deion Jones and Ty Johnson potentially slated for some additional work the rest of this year.
24 New Orleans Saints 2-5-0 (Prev: 23)
The Saints have a solid enough roster and an elite QB in Herbert. In theory that should lead to more wins than two. As with many teams in this quadrant of the league, injuries have kept the Saints squarely below their competition in at least five contests.
25 Cincinnati Bengals 3-4-0 (Prev: 18)
The Bengals have a strong defense, but at full strength on offense right now they are starting four players expected to score zero points. That obviously isn’t going to get it done and I hope the Bengals are prepared to pick up some offense this offseason.
26 Seattle Seahawks 2-5-0 (Prev: 28)
Josh has signaled a full white flag for the 2022 Seahawks season and is in the process of selling short term assets. This team needs a real injection of talent to compete with the Rams and 49ers any time soon.
27 San Diego Chargers 1-6-0 (Prev: 21)
On this roster we are seeing the effects of a paper thin list of offensive contributors struggling with injuries. Nice core of young TE’s though.
28 Washington Commanders 0-7-0 (Prev: 27)
The Commanders have a punishing end to the year in store for them, and they should genuinely walk away with one of the top picks of the draft. I’m surprised Roquan alone hasn’t managed to snag a few Ws.
29 Houston Texans 2-5-0 (Prev: 32)
Basic maintenance is being ignored on this roster that should have led them to more than two wins. I made some executive decisions here while reviewing the team for this blurb that included bringing stud S off of IR (He has been healthy for two weeks now), This team is in terrible shape and it’s a shame to see them have more wins than the much, much better Colts.
30 Minnesota Vikings 0-7-0 (Prev: 30)
The Commanders and Vikings share one thing only they can truly claim at the bottom of these rankings: They have a core of extremely talented young stars to build around. The Vikings remind me of how the 49ers looked 2 years ago. Sanjul is taking a beating this year in the win column after selling short term assets, but the turnaround in Minnesota could happen faster than some expect.
31 Arizona Cardinals 1-6-0 (Prev: 29)
The highest scoring Cardinal on the year is rookie 5th round CB Tariq Woolen. The main difference between the Cardinals and Bills right now is the fact that the Cardinals are led by a GM looking to turn over every rock to find prizes like Woolen to build around.
32 Buffalo Bills 0-7-0 (Prev: 31)
Nightmare. The Bills broke a shameful record this week capturing the record of the worst points week in Legacy history at 20.55 points. There are fixer uppers and there are spaces that can only be renewed by a wrecking ball and a skilled craftsman. Nailing the 2022 draft and having the patience to see this through is the only way the Bills will ever compete for a championship again.
This one seems fairly obvious. The Giants are always one of the top teams in Legacy, but this year they seem to score 285 points every week. Their lowest point total this year came in week 3 at 242. 2nd place on the “Highest lowest week” metric was 203 (49ers).
