List of week 14 byes this year Atlanta Falcons Chicago Bears Green Bay Packers Indianapolis Colts New Orleans Saints Washington Commanders So I lose Allegeir, Robinson, Pierce, McClaurin, Jelani Woods, Gipson*, Ebiketie, Anderson, plus some deep depth so far... According to some people in this thread, now that you know you can just go out and find bye week replacements for all those guys ready for week 14. Super easy, simple, and fair for everyone. Especially those who don't lose any key pieces in week 14. The rule is there to try and provide parity for the whole league. Every player has a Legacy Regular Season bye week so no team gets an advantage by having a QB for all 13 weeks whilst another team only has 12 games with their QB, and improves the quality of the playoffs by allowing full strength teams to go up against one another. If we were making the rule to avoid having bye weeks in the final regular season game I'd understand the frustration as that is making a rule for making a rule sake, but we're just trying to level the playing fields for everyone. That can only be a positive thing. I'm not saying you have to like the solution, and to be honest we're never going to reach a unanimous decision on a solution, but we can at least try it for a year and then reassess in the next offseason owners meeting to either tweak the solution, come up with a new solution, or remove it alltogether. I also want to mention that going out and getting replacements because you know you'll have a week 14 bye isn't always something thats possible to do. If you have a top QB-WR double up, or a top 5 DE and LB, or a top TE option then any deals to get replacements mean you're going to be trading away one of these players at an often lower than actual value deal because you need to have that non-bye week player. At positions with few starting quality players compared to how many we need to start such as TE, K, or LB (provided that MFL doesn't undo their position swaps), just finding a low level fill in isn't going to be particularly easy either. Add in the fact that our trade deadline is earlier in the regular season and you'll see teams who aren't likely to win the race for the #1 seed having to pay over the odds to fill ensure they fill their week 14 lineup. Some of those teams will reach the playoffs and win because of those guys, others will lose in the playoffs and have lost team value, and some teams won't even make the playoffs and their trades will have weakened their team for no benefit. Yes that's always part of Fantasy Football, but I think without adding a solution for week 14 byes it's just exacerbating that mantra and problem.

Last year I lost Taylor, Kamara, Callaway, Davenport, Zaire and Okereke. I already knew this ahead of time. Why I was playing for a first round bye all year. It didn't happen. Still won my week 14 match up though. Not saying that will always be the outcome but it's something that can be strategized as the season progresses. It is a fair point that every GM won't be able to get a potential stop gap at QB for week 14 byes. I just tend to think that plays into the strategy of how much you value that back up QB or depth at any position. I was one of the teams last year that had a back up QB(Dalton) even though Mahomes is my starter. I felt it was valuable enough to have that position covered ahead of time just in case.

I'm just trying to get the other side of the coin from my perspective. I can understand the idea of the rule. I just don't think it's necessary from my point of view. I'll be fine with whatever way we end up going. And maybe it will work better who knows. I'm just giving my opinion as to why I'd vote for neither.

You mean if you didn't have those payers on byes you wouldn't have played for a first round bye? I think everyone that is playing for the playoffs plays to win every game, the aim to get a first week bye high on all those GM's lists....

I don't think we're saying this is a must for GM's just a choice?

We're geting to the point where every team really needs 2 starting QB, I have the 6 pick this year and will likely add a QB if one is there at 6 with no intention of moving Tua, in other leagues I've started stacking quality kickers. Just opened my draft in Real NFL with Carlson and McPherson as my first picks in the inaugeral

But I knew the position of my team would be in without a first-round buy because all the week 14 players I had. So I did overpay on some players because I felt it would benefit me for those weeks. Just like someone would at the trade deadline who wants to make a run to go all in. You push harder at that time you feel can make a run at it. I just did it earlier in the season because I knew the situation I could possibly be in. That's what I'm saying as far as strategy of it all.
