Released by the Patriots, his contract insured for the Pats under the CBA.
Here are my thoughts (granted I am biased) 1) The money is insured to the Pats, I should be able to go through the same procedure. Release him and get the entire contract off my cap.
2)This is totally at the mercy of this league, but its going to be much harder for me to compete without a 2nd round pick. I am not comfortable lumping this together with a name like Crabtree, injuries are something we all should expect and they are temporary. My player will never be back and there is no reason why a manager should anticipate a player committing murder. The damage to my dynasty team is irreparable without some type of concessional pick package. I'm thinking an additional Round 10 pick and another rookie pick or 2.
Sorry if this is too forward, but I want to get this straightened out as quickly as possible.

I can understand the complete frustration and the ultimate damage done by using such a high pick in an inaugural draft and losing that player under the condition of what has transpired in the Aaron Hernandez saga. The question to me is would the circumstances be any different if we were already in an established league where we were not drafting a league from scratch. Is there presidence in both real and fantasy sports for a scenario like this? If some could provide a link to the collective bargaining agreement that would also be a big help. I'm not the biggest expert on the governing body of law when it comes to these cases, but I would be more than willing to listen to both sides. On the surface of this issue I sympathize with the Falcons organization, this is definitely a tough blow.

I'm thinking untradable comp picks at the end of the vet 12th rd, end of the 2nd rook draft, end of the 4th rook and pay 20% of his contract this yr as a cap hit. this will grant you some stability and should at the very least find you a replacement TE... The high point here will be rook 2.33 which should net a starter at a position somewhere if you play your cards right, a flier at the 4th rook, and a nice veteran piece at the end of the 12th (Still plenty available). I don't think this is equal to the 2nd that you spent on Hernandez, but instead of leaving you high and dry it is at least something that will help and should compensate that loss... People may complain, but like I said nobody would legitimately trade a 2nd vet for where these comp picks are so they should have nothing to complain about... I think this will help the Falcons stay competitive and I totally understand the Hernandez situation is shitty. If we were already all drafted however I would have said tough luck on this one...

Personally he got way more than he deserved for selecting a guy with past character issues. But whatever the league finds necessary

Past character issues an murder are two totally different things Bryan. No one could have predicted a murder a month ago.

True, but he's always had character issues like shooting a guy in the face while he was at Florida.
