While traditionally I have been against a raising of the league salary cap, I think its time for a serious consideration to raise the cap for the first time in league history, and here's why:
1. We have raised the minimum salaries for veteran players.
2. We recently added a 21st starter to weekly line-up.
3. We going to be significantly raising RFA tender prices next offseason.
4. We're going to be establishing an RFA contract system that better rewards players being resigned by their teams next offseason.
5. We're also going to be considering raising some of the extension prices.
The bottom line is this, the league has changed quite significantly over the past 4 years, and as a league we need to discuss what implications these salary requirements will have on the long term effects of the league, and whether we need to adjust the league salary cap to better suit these new rules.
