It appears that we have a contract extension price on CB's that is a little out of whack, making the market value on CB contract extensions unrealistic.
Currently the 3M contract extension is not falling in line with league market value.
For example: The franchise tag on CB's is currently at 2.9M, making it the only position in Legacy where the actual extension price is higher than the franchise tag, which I would suggest takes away any incentive for GM's to use a franchise tag on a CB.
This also falls in line with the idea that CB's at their best value constitute a 3 round value in terms of draft compensation. That compensation is determined from my experience of where top end CB's start to go in the rookie draft, in general terms. Using the baseline price of our RFA rules of a 3rd round tender at the 1.5M tender price, an initial contract offer for a CB at a max four year reigning price would come in at 2.18M per year. RFA tender values, combined with the franchise tag price I believe highlights a fairly severe distortion on contract extension prices for CB's.
Thus, my conclusion would be simply to drop the CB contract extension price from 3M down to 2.5M, which puts it right in between the franchise tag price and the RFA tender value for a 4 year contract price value.
Thoughts?

Im not sure that we have ever seen a contract extension on a CB in this league, but I want to make that option as viable as possible, and this contract extension price drop would make it a fairer market value for GM's that may consider this positional extension.
This is a change I would like to make ASAP for the 2019 season.
