A lot of top teams took losses this week, with some new teams arriving in the upper ranks of the league. Exciting times in Legacy with another week of conference matches up next!
32. (=) Indianapolis Colts (0-3)
Combined offensive skill position stats for the Colts this week: 3 Rec for 37 yds, a tackle, and an assist.
31. (-1) Cleveland Browns (0-3)
The Island of Misfit Toys on the offensive side of the ball, the defense had some very nice performances between Shelby Harris, Mykal Walker, and Julian Love combining for 56 points. The Browns get the Ravens next, a team they would have beat 149 to 133 this week.
30. (-1) Cincinnati Bengals (0-3)
One bright spot, expensive free agent addition Krys Barnes played well this week with 9 tackles. The Bengals also lost one of their few offensive producers in Tarik Cohen.
29. (-1) Kansas City Chiefs (0-3)
Derrick Henry. Will Fuller. Jerry Jeudy. CeeDee Lamb. The Chiefs have no QB anymore with Trubisky being benched for Foles, but this roster isn’t about 2020 anyway, is it? A proper offseason will have the chiefs looking pretty dangerous.
28. (-1) San Francisco 49ers (1-2)
The rookies aren’t doing well at the moment and Tua still doesn’t have the starting job. As long as those facts are both true, the 49ers won’t have many more wins this year. They’re losing the race to the bottom currently with that week 1 win on their record.
27. (+4) Houston Texans (0-3)
A sizeable bounce for the 0-3 Texans comes because the offense is beginning to genuinely develop. Joining Josh Jacobs this week as productive offensive players were Myles Gaskin and rookie 1st round duo Justin Jefferson and Brandon Aiyuk. There’s still very little depth on this team, but the offense is looking much better nowadays and they have two starting QBs now in Minshew and Foles.
26. (-2) Minnesota Vikings (0-3)
The offense couldn’t pitch in what it needed to this week to allow for the Vikings upset of the Football Team, losing by less than four points. You know those NFL teams with dominant defenses and dysfunctional offenses, where the camera pans to the linebacker after yet another 3 and out and he just shakes his head and runs back onto the field? That’s the Legacy Vikings right now. Darius Leonard is sick of losing like this.
25. (=) San Diego Chargers (1-2)
The Chargers snag their first win of the season behind strong offensive performances this week. The defense will still need help if the Chargers want to make a run at the AFC West title this year over the 2-1 Raiders. First thing’s first, they take on an improving Broncos team this week.
24. (-3) Baltimore Ravens (1-2)
The Ravens roster is better than their 2020 record will indicate. This week they got zero production from Deebo Samuel, Julio Jones, and Henry Ruggs while they lost Jordan Reed to injury. This is still by a decent margin the 2nd best team in the division.
23. (-4) Arizona Cardinals (1-2)
The Cardinals were blown out by the surging Falcons this week. I wonder what kind of package the Cardinals could ask for 49.45 point Patrick Mahomes?
22. (=) Denver Broncos (1-2)
Interesting to see Lawrence Cager get some snaps this week. Kevin likes his deep flier types and Cager fits the bill, finally activated for the pathetic Jets. They need some more of those types to start producing if they want to start racking up wins, but they have developing players to watch, a lot more than some teams around this spot can say.
21. (-5) Green Bay Packers (1-2)
One steps forward and two steps back for the defending champions as they finish 29th in week 3 scoring despite 35 points from Austin Ekeler. One would imagine their 133 points as the low watermark for the season, but a week 4 date with a Lions team fresh off a 221 point performance could send the Packers to 1-3.
20. (=) Buffalo Bills (1-2)
Josh Allen, James Robinson, Miles Sanders. That’s gonna make for some huge weeks. This was one of those huge weeks as the Bills put up 232 points. They have the look of a spoiler team that you don’t want to face on a bad week.
19. (+7) New Orleans Saints (2-1)
The Saints are one of the few teams where I check their score specifically when I check the Legacy scores on a Sunday night to see if they have a path to victory. I’m becoming a fan. The Saints put up 185 points this week to secure their second win of the year aided by the finally productive Mecole Hardman. This is a team with actual offensive depth with their bench receivers. The NFC South is a dangerous place to play. They get a chance for a major upset in week 4 against the Buccaneers.
18. (-3) Dallas Cowboys (1-2)
Just a very underwhelming week from a lot of players who ought to do more. Everybody not named Michael Gallup and Jeremy Chinn needs to take a look in the mirror as the Cowboys 2020 season begins to slip.
17. (+2) Detroit Lions (2-1)
Unfortunately no Chase Winovich clip this week, but the Lions make a huge jump with an impressive 221 points en route to a win. If the Higgins, Inman, and Anthony Miller we saw in week 3 are a sign of things to come, the Lions might be the most dangerous team In their division. They get a chance to prove it against Green Bay this week.
16. (-6) Chicago Bears (2-1)
Falling to the Eagles, the realization for Chicago sets in that they’re currently a Jack Doyle return (assuming Mo Alie-Cox hasn’t earned that job) and a bad Jared Cook news blurb away from having a genuinely putrid offense.
15. (+2) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)
The Steelers beat the Dolphins this week, and they didn’t even have to score 200 points to make it happen. A pretty remarkable result. The Steelers currently lead their awful division, and seem unlikely to cede that lead for the rest of the regular season.
14. (+4) New York Giants (2-1)
Essentially tied with Washington in total points this season, the Giants should be able to catch either Washington or Philly for 2nd place this week if they can knock the Cowboys off the hill.
13. (+1) New York Jets (2-1)
While the Jets did take advantage of a weaker team to bounce back and snag their second win this season, the points scored are down for the 2rd consecutive week after their strong showing in week 1. They have to beat a good Patriots team this week. That means they need Davante Adams back and they need more from JK Dobbins.
12. (-1) Washington Football Team (3-0)
Legacy’s Little Engine That Could gets a massive chance this week against the undefeated, division leading Eagles. They still have no real offensive depth, they still have Bad Carson at QB, and they would take a huge blow if Chase Young misses time. That said, let’s see how week 4 goes. Currently 15th in the league in PPG.
11. (+2) New England Patriots (2-1)
The Patriots top 200 this week to set up a good, winnable game versus the Jets in week 4. They are going to need some help at WR if they want to make any real noise past battling to stay relevant in a division with that much parity.
10. (-3) Tennessee Titans (2-1)
The 3-0 Titans took down the Raiders this week despite getting a combined 9.5 points from 4 offensive starters. That’s going to happen in this deep of a league sometimes, and Deontae Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald in particular should absolutely see brighter days, but they still put up a respectable 208 points, good enough to beat all but 8 teams this week.
EDIT: Stat corrections have the Raiders topping the Titans this week, those 4 starters and their 9.5 points can likely take the blame for the razors edge loss. Titans are back in a slugfest with Jaguars for AFC South title.
9. (-1) Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1)
The emergence of Darrell Henderson is a godsend for this offense. The Jags had a close encounter with the Broncos this week, but with 7 defensive players scoring less than 3 points each, bigger box scores are on the way. The Jaguars have the offense to withstand a perfect storm of defensive futility, and defense is a lot easier to come by in mid-season trades.
8. (-5) Miami Dolphins (2-1)
If a riverboat gambler built a 32 team Dynasty team and their whole offense went down in flames, we might send the coast guard in for a recovery mission. There’s no question how much talent Miami has on the roster, and they should have plenty of season to burn still when CMC and Thomas return from injury. Circling the water just below are the Patriots (198 PPG), Bills (197 PPG), and Jets (186 PPG) all threatening to chip away at the Dolphins record in the meantime.
7. (-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-2)
Eighth (Seventh )is the farthest down you can rank a team as dangerous and unlucky as the two loss Buccaneers. 1-2 looks bad, but the truth of the situation is as long as they take care of New Orleans this week, they will still be tied for second with the loser of ATL/CAR.
6. (+6) Atlanta Falcons (2-1)
Last week’s 7 spot drop appears to have been a massive overreaction as the Falcons brutalize the Chiefs to the tune of 276 points this week. The biggest question among Falcons fans, can they do it again? A tough date with the Panthers looms to decide who in the NFC South gets to keep a winning record.
5. (-1) Carolina Panthers (2-1)
The 3rd of the top four teams to take a loss in week 3. Carolina took a shot at the king and missed badly, but are still 2nd in the league in both PPG and bench points. Another wildly important match is on deck in week 4 for Carolina as they face NFC South co-leading Falcons.
4. (+5) Philadelphia Eagles (3-0)
One of the elite offenses in Legacy this year. There’s no denying that anymore. Even Nick Mullins looked good. Can they remain undefeated this week against a scrappy Football Team football team?
3. (+3) Seattle Seahawks (2-1)
How long does a gilded age last? For Seattle, probably as long as Chef Russ and Sous-chef Lockett keep doing what they’re doing to the rest of the NFL/Legacy. The pair combined for an absurd 87 points in the 10 point victory over an excellent Bucs team. The Seahawks jumped to #3 overall in PPG this week.
2. (=) Las Vegas Raiders (3-0)
Vegas took a hard shot to the chest this week against the Titans, losing by less than 2 points barring stat changes. There’s no shame in a loss to Tennessee, but it probably hurts seeing all the bench points that could have tipped the scales. No use crying over spilled milk, the Raiders get a bounce back opportunity versus the Chiefs next.
EDIT: Stat changes give the Raiders back their perfect record. The Raiders should soon have more wins than their three AFC West opponents combined.
1.(=) Los Angeles Rams (3-0)
The Rams did not disappoint in week 3 dropping nearly 300 on Carolina. Although the Rams elite offense paved the way, the defense played a big role in the big point total with a combined 75 points from DT Aaron Donald, DE Brandon Graham, and CB Mike Hilton. Without the trio, the Rams would have still beat the Panthers by over 20. The only way to beat the Rams this season may be a visit from lady luck.
