We had a few requests this year to postpone the trade deadline for a few weeks later in the midst of the regular season. We currently have the deadline set around week 6, which I believe is right around the time the NFL has its trade deadline. My concern is that we get too far close to the playoffs before the deadline kicks in, because the later we get into a season, the closer we are to determining which teams will make the playoffs and which teams will not make the playoffs. I have been in too many leagues where the trade deadline is late into the season, and then the teams that have been eliminated from the playoffs, proceed with massive firesales that changes the complete trajectory of the current season just at the playoffs are about to ensue.
Keep in mind, we have a 12 week regular season. So week six is already at the half way point of the regular season.
Thoughts?
