These are just some of the ideas that I have in my mind in regards to potential rule changes for the 2017 season. I want to get them down in simple note format, so I dont forget, as we can talk about them in greater details later on.
1. Make amendments to the contract restructure rules, as there were some problems that presented themselves in regards to how many times a players contract can be restructured.
2. Is it time to consider a reform of the free agent bidding system. There are better systems out there that are being used by other leagues, and should we consider and age based contract salary guarantee where veteran players receive higher salaries based upon years played in the NFL.
3. It is time to reconsider the zero cap hit rule for retired players. This is a conversation we had in the 2016 offseason, but the talks were never presented with any serious proposal.
These are just a few new rule change propositions that we may need to take on in the future. I will continue to update this thread with new ideas, and league members can make suggestions as well too. We will start other threads as we get closer to the 2017 season, so we can discuss these potential rule changes in greater detail.
If league GM's have any other ideas, please post your rule change thoughts in this thread, and we will discuss them sometime in the near future.
