As we had discussed just last week, we needed to update the IR Rule in this league to better reflect the current rule in the NFL. While a lot of rules dont translate well from the RL football to fantasy, the new NFL rule I think will cross over very easily. Here's my poor attempt to write a rule:
I would like some help writing this rule with a bit more clarity.
Injured Reserve Players include players on NFL Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) or Injured Reserve (IR).
"Players placed on IR (optional) will not count toward the 53-player active roster limit, but will still count toward the salary cap. If a GM chooses to place players on IR, however, they cannot be taken off IR all season*. GM's may also choose to keep IR players on their active roster all season, which means they will be immediately eligible to be inserted into the starting line-up upon their [anticipated] return.
"YOU MAY NOT TRADE PLAYERS ON THE I.R" and each off-season the Players must be moved back to the active roster.
* Each team will be allowed to reactivate one player from the injured reserve after 6 weeks.

The above rewrite is mostly a matter of rearranging the wording and simplifying the concept. I believe this rule allows the GM enough flexibility in managing their roster without imposing unnecessary restrictions. Of course with its implementation, a process of documentation would also have to be created in order for the league to keep track of what players are placed on IR, as well as the time frame they were placed/activated.
