We had a problem last year with this rule, quite simply we never stated in this rule how many times the same contract could be restructured. Here's the rule:
Contract Restructure
One contract restructure per year of a max of 2M per contract for contracts 8M and over in any given year and 1M for contracts 4M and over in any given year, plus a 50% cap hit for any restructured contract. You can move this money any way you want, you can back load to clear up cap space for current year, or you can front load to clear up space for future years.
For example:
Original Contract:Darrelle Revis (CB-TB) 16/16/16/16/16/UFA
After Restructure:Darrelle Revis 14/16/16/16/18/UFA
The Bills cleared 2M in cap space by reorganizing 2M from the current year and placing it on the last year of the contract.
But remember, if you use a contract restructure, you will now be on the hook for 50% of the contract instead of the standard 30%.
When I came up wit the rule, it was intended to be used one time for any current contract in the books, but it was never stated in the rules. We need to clean this up to rid of any confusion. Quite simply, a contract restructure can only happen one time on any given current contract. If a player is waived or bought out, thus having a new league contract, of course he would be eligible once again for a contract restructure.
I think this is a simply rule tweak, but any thoughts?

I agree with One Restructure per contract. Let's just tweak the rule to add that provision to it.

I'm still thinking about this rule in destiny, I don't know if 2m is enough of an incentive to inherit that large waiver penalty. I wouldn't mind talking about being allowed to move more money. Or have a scale. The more money you restructure the higher the penalty

I also like the idea of being able to move money on a restructure

Option 2: 1. 3M allowed to be moved on contracts up to 5.9M...penalty would be 50% 2. 5M allowed to be moved on contracts from 6M to 10.9M ...penalty would be 60% 3. 7M allowed to be moved on contracts from 11M and up...penalty would be 70% of contract.

Or have a scale. The more money you restructure the higher the penalty I need to think about this a little. The league is still reeling from the Clay Mathews restructure because some genius GM who is no longer with us decided to restructure a monster contract, and nobody has dropped him precisely because of the 50% cap hit. And because of that horrible contract, the Clay Matthews contract is single handily responsible for the outrageous franchise tag on LB's in this league.

Does the fact that re-structuring exists impact on FA prices?

Does the fact that re-structuring exists impact on FA prices? No, it does not affect FA prices. Only the franchise tag prices, potentially.

In that it drives them up slightly with the knowledge contracts can be re-structured

In that it drives them up slightly with the knowledge contracts can be re-structured It could drive the franchise tag up a little, or it could drive it down a little, it just depends how GM's move that money around as they have the freedom to front load and backload with restructures. We're allowed to move anywhere between 1-2M a year for one contract, and it just depends which players contracts are restructured and if those players fall within the top 10 at their position.
