DOT Members,
It was brought to my attention that the current Seahawks GM failed to use his extension this offseason, particularly on a key piece for that organization, Russel Wilson. As many of you may remember, when I put out my GM report card a few months back, this GM was one of two GM's who was placed on the GM firing bubble by the league. The main reason for being placed on the firing bubble was because of lack of activity, a GM that really only showed up for the rookie draft and failing to put out a valid line-up during many weeks throughout the season, when in fact he had 50+ million in cap space over the last couple years. So with the inexcusable failure to exercise any contract options I am leaning toward a league take over of this team.
I would also like to mention the possibility of a special exemption for a 2018 contract extension on Russel Wilson so that any new GM we may find has something a little more to work with, instead of taking over an organization that is completely riddled with problems.
Thoughts?

Just my opinion We move on from this Gm. With his spotty track record and with this franchise altering error I don’t see any other option unfortunately. I would definitely allow for the extension to be used. This is a team that’s all ready in rough shape as is. We need to get the Seahawks winning games real soon.

I'm all for giving benefit of the doubt when it appears appropriate - however, there are certain triggers that give me pause. That trigger to me was after having been warned, the GM failed to insert a key player into his line-up, which caused him to lose a key game. The difference being the loss netted him the 4th round pick whereas a win would of placed him at the 5th round. It may seem insignificant (and to some extent biased, though I assure you it wasn't), but this is a competitive league - and although I mentioned it - gave him benefit of the doubt because as Frank mentioned, he was just previously warned.
With an extension on Wilson, the team is a workable condition, so relieving him of his duties wouldn't necessarily be detrimental to the league. Yet I think the situation is delicate - especially with FA being so thin. Should a league takeover take place it will take a careful balance of personal team needs vs. those of the Seahawks (unless as owner is instantly found).

I agree. The Seahawks GM needs to be replaced and the Management should take over the team prior to Free Agency. Seldom in free agency is the Management representative operating a team bidding on the same player himself and for the team he's representing. We should allow the Management Representative to make the proper extension, franchise tag and contract restructure prior to free agency.
Frank should appoint a Management Representative to help manage the Seahawks through free agency until a new GM is secured.

Thank you all for your thoughts. The Seahawks GM has been relieved of his duties,I have exercised a contract extension on Russell Wilson and am now actively looking for a new Gm.
